Metal stair treads. What are their characteristics?

Stair treads are structural elements of a building that allow communication between levels. In heavily used areas, metal stair treads with a cheeky structure are most commonly used. In most cases, they are supported by a wall on one side and a beam on the other, or both sides are supported by beams. Metal stair treads are manufactured from gratings and are commonly referred to as treps. Let's find out what is worth knowing about them?

Metal stair treads for special tasks

Metal stair treads are used wherever pedestrian traffic is intense. The cheeky design of the stair treads makes them resistant to considerable loads. The material is also important for their functionality. Steel gives the components made of it exceptional strength. Metal stair treads are durable and resistant to mechanical damage and abrasion. In the galvanised version, they also do not succumb to negative atmospheric influences and are not at risk of corrosion. In addition, they are very easy to keep clean and do not require any maintenance. Metal stair treads can be successfully used both indoors and outdoors. They ensure the highest safety standards, especially thanks to the use of perforated anti-slip strips. They are characterised by low weight and simple installation. They are reliable, versatile and highly aesthetic designs.

Different variants of metal stair treads

Metal stair treads are used for the construction of walkways with a straight or rounded layout, medium-length stairs and short entrances of several steps. They are ideal for arrangement with other grating constructions. Their construction must comply with DIN 24537. They are used as entrance stairs for cellars, warehouses, production halls, attics, car ducts, stages or stadiums. They work well in industrial buildings and public facilities. The dimensions of the grommets and flat bars from which the steps are formed can be adapted to individual customer expectations. Metal stair treads are filled with WEMA or KOZ type gratings, but are also available in the following versions serraton. Openwork staircases made of expanded metal with a diamond mesh stand out for their exceptional adhesion to footwear in all conditions. Rectangular meshes, on the other hand, are made of welded or pressed grating. An alternative infill for metal staircases is solid corrugated sheet metal. Metal stair treads are equipped with fixing holes on the bottom or side.
